NOTICES TO MARINERS.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA.

No. 5 of 1917.

Spencer Gulf. Franklin Harbor,

MASTERS of vessels and others are hereby informed that the red buoy off the South- West end of Entrance Island has disappeared, and that the position is now marked by a red pile beacon, with circular head, in two (2) ft. at L.W.S.

Approximate position, Latitude 33° 43′ S.; Longitude 136° 57

E.

Also, that on and after April 16th, 1917, No. 2 A.G.A. light buoy will be in a position on the opposite side of the channel, about 1,100 ft. S.W. of its present site. The buoy in its new position will mark the edge of the two-fathom line, and vessels inward bound should pass the buoy on the port hand instead of on the starboard hand, as heretofore.

This notice affects Survey of Harbor, dated 1914, and Admiralty Charts Nos. 785 and 2389.

The Astronomical positions are only approximate unless seconds are given. The bearings are given both True and Magnetic, and those relating to lights are from seaward. The visibility of lights is that in clear weather. Fog signals are sounded only in thick or foggy weather. The heights given are heights of Focal plane above high water.

AUSTRALIA-SOUTH-EAST COAST.

Gabo Island-Intended Alteration in Characteristics."

MARINERS and others are hereby notified that the Occulting White Light on Gabo Island will be replaced by a Group Flashing White Light on or about 1st August, 1917.

Position. Lat. 37° 34′ S.; Long. 149° 55′ F.

Character-White group flashing showing three flashes in quick succession every

mine seconds, thus:

Note.-The Light will be unwatched.
