NOTICES TO MARINERS.
Swept Channel Eastern Entrance, Hongkong.
SHIPS are cautioned that they should approach and leave the harbour by the swept channel and that deviation from it is attended with risk. The channel is swept between the hours of sunrise and 7.30 a.m. and should not be used between those times.
In the event of ships arriving in the swept channel before the sweeping is completed they are warned that it is dangerous to approach vessels employed in sweeping the swept channel or to attempt to pass between pairs of vessels sweeping.
The vessels sweeping carry a ball at the masthead and another ball in a position where the yard would be and on that side on which it is dangerous for vessels to pass.
All signals made by the vessel superintending the sweeping are to be strictly obeyed.
