EXECUTIVE COUNCIL.

No. 412.

Order made by the Governor in Council under Section 12 of the Regulation of Chinese Ordinance, 1888, Ordinance No. 3 of 1888, this 20th day of September, 1917.

WHEREAS the householder of the house No. 7 Sui Wah Terrace High Street Victoria in the Colony of Hongkong has failed to comply with the provisions of Section 12 of the Regulation of Chinese Ordinance 1888 in respect of such house NOW IT IS HEREBY ORDERED AND DIRECTED that the rents and profits of such house shall. be seized by the Secretary for Chinese Affairs by causing to be served on the tenants and other occupiers of such house a written notice to pay the rents and profits now due and to become due in respect of such house to him the Secretary for Chinese Affairs AND IT IS HEREBY FURTHER ORDERED AND DIRECTED that all such rents and profits shall be held by the Secretary for Chinese Affairs to be dealt with in such manner as the Governor in Council shall further direct.

Additional Conditions of Licence to store Calcium Carbide made by the Governor in Council under Section 10 of the Dangerous Goods Ordinance, 1873, Ordinance No. 1 of 1873, this 20th day of September, 1917.

There shall be added to the Conditions of Licence to store Calcium Carbide pub- lished on pages 338 and 339 of the Regulations of Hongkong, 1914, as amended by the Governor in Council on the 19th day of July, 1917, and published in the Gazette on the 20th day of July, 1917, as Government Notification No. 323, the following conditions :-

H. No unalloyed copper shall be utilised in the construction of any vessel or other article employed in connection with the use or keeping of Carbide of Calcium or of the gas produced therefrom.

12. Carbide of Calcium which is not commercially pure and is liable to generate phosphoretted or siliciuretted hydrogen so as to render the gas evolved liable to ignite spontaneously, shall not be kept by the Licensee."

Additional Conditions of Licence to store Petrol for the use of motor cars in the ground floor and back-yard of a domestic building made by the Governor in Council under Section 10 of the Dangerous Goods Ordinance, 1873, Ordinance No. 1 of 1873, this 20th day of September, 1917.

There shall be added to the Conditions of Licence to store Petrol for the use of motor cars in the ground floor and back-yard of a domestic building published on pages 312 to 314 of the Regulations of Hongkong, 1914, as amended by the Governor in Council on the 19th day of April, 1917, and published in the Gazette on the 20th day of April, 1917, as Government Notification No. 162, the following conditions:-

10. All Petrol received on the Licensed Premises shall be taken immediately into the place of storage and Petrol taken out of the place of storage for delivery or otherwise shall be removed immediately from the Licensed Premises. This shall not apply to Petrol in the tanks of light locomo- tives.

11. No connections for portable electric lamps shall be permitted in any place

kept for storage of Petrol, or in any inspection pit.

12. The Licensee shall not smoke or allow any person to smoke in the place of storage or within the curtilage of the Licensed Premises within 20 feet of any opening to such place of storage. A notice to this effect printed in English and Chinese shall be placed in a conspicuous position on the Licensed Premises and the Licensee shall not carry any match or allow any person to carry a match in the place of storage.'
