No. 95. His Excellency the Governor has given his assent, in the name and on behalf of His Majesty the King, to the following Ordinances passed by the Legislative Council:-

Ordinance No. 1 of 1917.---An Ordinance to amend the War Loan Ordinance,

1916.

Ordinance No. 2 of 1917.--An Ordinance to consolidate and amend the law relating to the powers of arrest possessed by revenue officers.

Ordinance No. 3 of 1917. An Ordinance to amend the Interpretation Ordinance,

1911.

Ordinance No. 4 of 1917.-An Ordinance to make such provisions as are neces- sary to enable the Anglo-Portuguese Commercial Treaty to come into force as regards the Colony of Hongkong.

Ordinance No. 5 of 1917.-An Ordinance to make provision for the better pro- tection of forests, forest reserves, and plantations from fire.

Ordinance No. 6 of 1917.-An Ordinance to make further provision for the pro- tection of trees on Crown land and other Crown property from wilful damage.

Ordinance No. 7 of 1917.-An Ordinance to repeal in part the Malay States

Extradition Ordinance, 1903.

Ordinance No. 8 of 1917.---An Ordinance to amend the Pharmacy and Poisons

Ordinance, 1916.

An Ordinance to amend the War Loan Ordi-

nance, 1916.

[16th March, 1917.]

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the War Loan Amendment Ordinance, 1917, and shall be read and construed as one with the War Loan Ordinance, 1915.

2. The following section shall be added to the War Loan Ordinance, 1916:-

Exemption from Defence Contribution.

Ordinance No. 1 of 1901.

"14. All moneys appropriated out of the revenue and assets of the Colony for the payment of the interest on the bonds and for the formation of the sinking fund, and all dividends interest or produce of any investments which represent any portion of the sinking fund, shall be deducted from the Colonial revenues before the calculation of the sums payable to His Majesty's Government under the Defence Contribution Ordi- nance, 1901”
