*NOTE (1).--Under the Trading with the Enemy Proclamations of the 25th June and 10th Novem- ber, 1915, all Proclamations relating to Trading with the Enemy apply to all persons or bodies of persons of enemy nationality, resident or carrying on business in Liberia, Persia, Morocco or Portuguese East Africa, and consequently it is an offence to trade with any person or body of persons of enemy nationality, resident or carrying on business in Liberia, Persia, Morocco or Portuguese East Africa, even though such person or body of persons is not included by name in the above List, and the omission of the name of any such person or body of persons from such List is not an authority or licence to trade with such person or body of persons.
NOTE (2). Where a firm named in the List has more than one branch in the same country, all branches in that country are held to be included in the List even in cases where no address, or of several addresses one only is specifically mentioned.
NOTE (3). The above additions, removals and variations were inade in the United Kingdom on the 10th November, 1916, with the exception of the additions in the case of Japan and of the addi- tions and removal in the case of the Netherland East Indies, respectively, which were made on the 8th December, 1916.
NOTE (4)
The dates which appear opposite to the names in the variations are the dates on which the respective names in question were added to the Statutory List in the United Kingdom.
NOTE (5).—“11th November" in Note (2) to the Order in Council published in the Hongkong Gazette of the 8th December, 1916, should read 10th December.

No. 2. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. G. C. Moxox to be a 2nd Lieutenant in the Hongkong Volunteer Reserve, with effect from the 27th December, 1916.

No. 3. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. ROGER EDWARD LINDSELL to be a Member of the Board of Examiners, with effect from the 30th December, 1916.

No. 4. In the constitution of the Board of Examiners, published in Government Notification No. 539 of the 15th December, 1916, the "Chief Assistant" to the Secretary for Chinese Affairs should be deleted and the "Second Assistant" substituted therefor.
