The Astronomical positions are only approximate unless seconds are given. The bearings are given both True and Magnetic, and those relating to lights are from seaward. The visibility of lights is that in clear weather. Fog signals are sounded only in thick or foggy weather. The heights given are above high water.
AUSTRALIA EAST COAST.
Nobby Head Light -Intended alteration in character and Power.
MARINERS and others are hereby notified that the white occulting light on Nobby Head, Newcastle Harbour, will be replaced by a group flashing white light on or about 17th August, 1916.
Position.--Latitude 32° 55′ S.; Longitude 151° 48′ E.
Character.---Double flashing white light, showing two flashes every 10 seconds, thus:--

Power.'--10,000 candles.
Remarks.--The light will be unwatched. The remaining details of the light are unaltered. No further notice will be given. The Signal Station will be continued as heretofore.

Signal Station, Outer Harbor.
MASTERS of Vessels, Pilots, and others are informed that a Naval Signal Station has been instituted at the Outer Harbor, Port Adelaide, for general shipping use, and is situated at the Flagstaff, on which is flown, in the day time, a Commonwealth Ensign.
The Signal Station, which is connected with the Port Adelaide and Central Tele- phone Exchanges, is open day and night for the use of all passing vessels, and requests made by the Masters will be attended to. Signals may be made by Morse (whistle, flags, or lamps), semaphore flags or machines, or by the International Code.
Attention is called to the War Precautions Regulations Nos. 37, 38, 39, and 40. This affects Admiralty Charts Nos. 2389, 1750, and 1752.
