AT THE COURT AT BUCKINGHAM PALACE
THE 28TH DAY OF JULY, 1938.
PRESENT,
THE KING'S MOST EXCELLENT MAJESTY IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by subsection (1) of Section 735 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1894(a),. it is enacted that the Legis- lature of any British possession may by any Act or Ordinance confirmed by His Majesty in Council, repeal wholly or in part any provisions of the first mentioned Act (other than those of the Third Part thereof which relate to emigrant ships) relating to ships registered in that possession but that any such Act or Ordinance shall not take effect until the approval of His Majesty has been proclaimed in the possession or until such time thereafter as may be fixed by the Act or Ordinance for the purpose:
AND WHEREAS the Merchant Shipping Act, 1894, has been from time to time amended by various Acts of Parliament which are to be construed as one with the Merchant Shipping Act, 1894, and may be cited together with the said Act as the Merchant Shipping Acts, 1894 to 1937:
AND WHEREAS the Legislature of the Colony of Hong Kong by an ordinance entitled the Merchant Shipping (No. 2) Amendment Ordinance, 1934, has in part repealed the provisions of the said Acts (other than those of the Third Part of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1894, which relate to emigrant ships):
AND WHEREAS it is expedient that the said Ordinance should be confirmed by His Majesty in Council :
Now, THEREFORE, His Majesty, by and with the advice of His Privy Council, is pleased to confirm the said Ordinance.
