ORDINANCE No. 10 of 1899. (MERCHANT SHIPPING).

By virtue and in exercise of the powers wested in him by sections 37 (2) and 43 (3) of the Merchant Shipping Ordinance, 1899, and of all other powers thereto him enabling, the Governor in Council makes the following amendments to the regulations contained in Tables E, T and U in the Schedule to the said Ordinance :-

AMENDMENT OR RESCISSION.

Table E of the Tables made by virtue of the Mer- chant Shipping Ordinance, 1899. (No. 10 of 1899).

(1) Regulation 1 is amended by the rescis- sion of the figures 37" in the first line thereof and by the substitution therefor of the figures 43", and by the addition at the end thereof of the following words and figures:

"For the purposes of these regulations, launches, ferry vessels and motor boats are divided into the classes set forth in Group II of regulation 1 of the Merchant Shipping (Life-Saving Appliances) Regula- tions, 1935, and the terms 'harbour limits', 'partially sheltered waters (speci- fied areas)' and 'river trade limits' shall have respectively the meanings defined in those regulations :

Provided that-

(1) a vessel not exceeding a registered length of 40 feet shall only be eligible for a licence to ply within harbour limits;

(2) a vessel shall not be eligible for a licence in Class 2 unless it is completely decked and exceeds a registered length of 40 feet;

(3) a vessel shall not be eligible for a licence in Class 3 or Class 4 unless it is completely decked and its registered length is not less than 60 feet, or if its keel was laid before 1st January, 1933, not less than 55 feet."

(2) Regulation 2 is amended by the rescission of the words the Government Marine Surveyor. at the end thereof and by the substitution therefor of the words Gov- ernment Surveyors, and by the addition after such substituted words of the follow- ing words:

"who, if satisfied that it can properly be done, shall issue to the owner a certi-
