No. 579. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. THOMAS JACKSON HOUSTON to be a Police Magistrate, with effect from 3rd August, 1938.

No. 580.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. JOHN BERNARD PRENTIS to act as a Deputy Registrar, Supreme Court, and Deputy Registrar of Companies, with effect from the 3rd August, 1938.

No. 581.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint the Honourable Mr. STANLEY HUDSON DODWELL, provisionally and subject to His Majesty's pleasure, to be temporarily, during the absence of the Honourable Sir HENRY EDWARD POLLOCK, Kt., K.C., LL.D., an Unofficial Member of the Executive Council, with effect from the 30th. day of July, 1938.

NOTICES.
Hong Kong
ORDINANCE No. 10 of 1933. (VOLUNTEER).
By virtue and in exercise of the powers conferred by section 10 of the Volunteer Ordinance, 1933, the General Officer Commanding the Troops, with the approval of the Governor after consultation with the Commandant of the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, amends the First Schedule to the Ordinance as amended by Government Notification No. 903 in the Gazette of the 13th November, 1936, as follows:-
Amendment.
The First Appendix to the First Schedule is amended by the addition, at the end of each of paragraphs 3 and 4 thereof, of the following sub-paragraph:-
"(f) Attend Combined Operations."
