APPOINTMENTS, &c.

No. 7.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve the following promotion in the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, with effect from 7th January, 1938:

Company Sergeant-Major GORDON PATRICK FERGUSON to be Second Lieutenant.

No. 8.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint GEORGE MCNEILL HARGREAVES, M.B., Ch.B. (Edin.), M.R.C.P. (Edin.), D.P.H. (Lond.), D.O.M.S. (Eng.), to be a Health Officer, with effect from 1st January, 1938.

No. 9.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. ALFRED TREVOR GODFREY, P.A.S.I., to be an Assistant Assessor of Rates, with effect from the 6th January, 1938.

No. 10.-Non-Official Justices of the Peace who are expecting to be absent from the Colony for any considerable part of the current year are requested to notify the Chief Clerk, Colonial Secretary's Office, accordingly, and to furnish at the same time the dates of their intended departure and return.
