EXECUTIVE COUNCIL.
No. 370. Referring to Government Notification No. 663 of the 5th October, 1905, the following Regulations are published.
Regulations relating to the examinations of Masters and Mates made by the Governor in Council, this 3rd day of May, 1906, under Section 4 (8) of The Merchant Shipping
Ordinance2, 1899, (Ordinance No. 10 of 1899).
1. Paragraph 21 of the Regulations relating to the examinations of Masters and Mates, dated the 28th September, 1905, is hereby amended by omitting therefrom the whole of sub-paragraph (5) with the exception of the words "The special examinations will be held in London only."
2. Paragraph 32 (a.) of the said Regulations is hereby amended by substituting the letter (7) for the number (1) in the fourth line thereof.
3. Paragraph 34 of the said Regulations is hereby amended by substituting in (a) and (b) thereof the number 31 for the number 32.
4. Paragraph 39 of the said Regulations is hereby revoked and the following paragraph is substituted in place thereof :-
"39. A Certificate for fore and aft rigged vessels will not entitle the possessor to act in any case in which a Certificate for square-rigged vessels is required. Amongst square-rigged vessels are classed full-rigged ships, barques, brigs, barquentines, brigantines, and steamships carrying square sails."
5. Paragraph 55 (.) of the said Regulations is hereby amended by substituting the words "a Second Mate's" for the words "an Only Mate" in the fifth line thereof.
6. Paragraph 55 (c.) of the said Regulations is hereby amended by substituting the number 67 for the number 32 in the second line thereof.
7. Paragraph 56 of the said Regulations is hereby amended by substituting the number 116 for the number 115 in the twelfth line thereof.
8. Paragraph 107 of the said Regulations is hereby amended by omitting therefrom the words" (see Appendix I, page 93)".
9. Paragraph 113 of the said Regulations is hereby amended by substituting the word
"for the word "test" in the second line thereof.

10. Paragraph 115 of the said Regulations is hereby amended by substituting the words "for the Ordinary Certificates" for the words "both for the Ordinary and for the Extra Certificates".
11. Paragraph 121 of the said Regulations is hereby amended by omitting therefrom all the words therein after the word “ case

12. Paragraph 127 (c.) of the said Regulations is hereby amended by substituting the word "differences" for the word "difference" in the second line thereof and omitting there- from all the words therein after the word Almanac in the third line thereof.
13. Paragraph 127 (h.) of the said Regulations is hereby revoked.
14. Paragraph 128 of the said Regulations is hereby amended by omitting therefrom all the words therein after the word "rule ".

15. Appendix B. of the said Regulations is hereby amended by substituting the words one of the following services for the words "one of the following service
and by omitting therefrom the words "Extra Master" and also by substituting the words "River Steamers" for the words "Home Trade Passenger Ships ".
