SANDAKAN,

BRITISH NORTH Borneo,

November 27th, 1915.

On the 23rd instant at 6.28 a.m., the S.S. Sandakan, drawing fourteen feet of water struck on a patch marked four fathoms in Latitude 7° 01′ 30′′ North, Longitude 117° 44' 00 East. Soundings on each side gave nineteen feet of water, and not twenty- four feet as charted, so that she probably hit a pinnacle. At the time the ship struck it was dead low spring tides, but she drifted off in two minutes and soundings taken again gave twenty fathoms.

Deputy Harbour Master.
