The Astronomical positions are only approximate unless seconds are given. The bearings are given both True and Magnetic, and those relating to lights are from seaward. The visibility of lights is that in clear weather. Fog signals are sounded only in thick or foggy weather. The heights given are above high water.

AUSTRALIA EAST COAST.

Inner Barrier Route Home Group.

Clerke Island New Light.

MARINERS and others are hereby notified that the new light ou Clerke Island will be exhibited experimentally on or about 5th November, 1915. Position. Latitude 11° 58' S.; Longitude 143° 171′ E.

Structure.--Steel skeleton tower painted white.

Character-Single flashing white light showing one flash every 3 seconds, thus :-

Flash,

0.3 sec.

eclipse,

2.7 sec.

Elevation. Approximately seventy feet.

Visibility.-Fourteen miles, through an are of 255°, from 139° (S. 46° E. Magnetic) through South, West and North to 34° (N. 29° E. Magnetic), obscured elsewhere. Remarks.-The light will be unwatched.

Beacon

No. 69.

Amur Estuary.

Sounding and Lighted.

Ox 27th July (9th August), the ordinary beacon serving for the entrance from Okbatsk Sea into Sakhalin and Nevelsky Channels was replaced by a sounding and lighted beacon, at a depth of six fathoms.

Location. In one line with the extremity of Cape Menshikoff and the eastern slope of Mount "Ponir" and with angle towards Mount Shishka (Prowl) 31° 00'.

Description. Black and Red Beacon, cylindrical, with open ironwork superstructure on top of which the lighting apparatus is placed.
