No tender will be considered unless the person tendering produces a receipt to the effect that he has deposited in the Colonial Treasury the sum of $50 as a pledge of the bona fides of his offer, which sum shall be forfeited to the Crown, if such person shall refuse to carry out his tender, should his tender be accepted.

The Government does not bind itself to accept the highest or any tender.

South Channel Entrance to the Yangtze.

Alteration to the "Tungsha" Lightship.

REFERRING to Special Notice to Mariners No. 129, notice is hereby given that the Tungsha will be replaced on her station during next month, when the character of the Light will be as follows:

The new illuminating apparatus is Dioptric, Group-flashing, of the Fourth Order, showing three white lightning flashes in quick succession every 30 seconds.

The approximate power of the flash is 21,000 candles.

The Light, which will be exhibited from a lantern carried by a steel tower, is 34 feet above the sea, and should be visible in clear weather at a distance of 11 nautical miles.

In other respects the characteristics of the Tungsha remain unchanged.
