period extending from the 15th March, 1913, to the 30th June, 1914, or for such other period as Government may agree to let the Lots, at the rental or rentals specified in his tender, a proportionate part of such being payable in advance on or before the 17th day of March and afterwards on the 1st day of July and the 1st day of January during the continuance of the permit or permits; and on production of the Treasury receipt for such, a permit to quarry will be issued by the Director of Public Works.
3. The Government will permit, if practicable, each Permittee to erect and maintain such temporary piers and jetties as may in the opinion of the Director of Public Works be reasonably necessary for the purpose of shipping stone cut in the Quarries into junks or boats; the sites and dimensions of such temporary piers and jetties shall be subject in all respects to the approval of the Director of Public Works, who may at any time direct the removal of any such temporary pier or jetty to any other place; the expense of such removal to be borne by the Permittee.
4. The Permittee of each Quarry to fill in any holes in the Quarry to such levels and to the satisfaction of the Director of Public Works, if called upon to do so.
5. The Permittee of each Quarry to construct such drains as may be necessary to carry off any surplus water which may accumulate in the Quarry; the work to be done to the satisfaction of the Director of Public Works.
6. Should any party whose tender is accepted fail to comply with these conditions or any of them, the sum deposited by him shall be forfeited to the Government and the tender or tenders made by him shall thereupon be deemed to be cancelled, and he shall be liable to make good any loss or damage which the Government may incur through his failure to comply with such conditions.
7. No rates will be charged on any of the Quarries.
