FOOD CONTROL DEPARTMENT.

No. S. 474.-It is hereby notified that sealed tenders in triplicate, which should be clearly marked "Tender for Food Supplies", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Monday, the 24th day of November, 1941, for the supply and delivery of Stores required by the Government of Hong Kong before 31st December, 1941.

Tenders may be sent in for one or more Classes of Food supplies and Tenderers may quote for all or any part of each Schedule.

Tenderers must produce with each tender a receipt that they have deposited with the Accountant-General at the Treasury, 3rd floor, Windsor House, the sum of Dollars Two hundred and fifty ($250) as a pledge of the bona fides of their tender, which sum shall be forfeited to the Crown, if any tenderer fails or refuses to carry out his tender, should such tender be accepted. The deposit shall be returned to any tenderer whose tender is not accepted.

Successful tenderers will be required to deposit with the Accountant-General the sum prescribed in the respective Forms of Tender as security for the due and faithful performance of the Contract.

Forms of Tender and further particulars may be obtained at the Office of the Controller of Food, Food Control Department, 1st floor, Union Building.

The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender, and reserves the right to accept ALL OR ANY PART OF EACH SCHEDULE.

NOTICE OF FIRING PRACTICE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE

DEFENCES (FIRING AREAS) ORDINANCE, 1936.

1. Firing practice, as under, is notified for 17th November, 1941 :-

(a) Heavy gun practice seawards between the hours of 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m.

Alternative date-18th November, 1941.

Firing Area "B" will be affected.

(6) Light gun practice seawards between the hours of 6.00 p.m. and 12.00

midnight.

Firing Areas "D" and "E" will be affected.

2. Firing practice as under is notified for 18th November, 1941-

(a) Heavy gun anti-aircraft practice in the southern area of the Island

between the hours of 10.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.

Firing Area "C" will be affected.

Alternative dates-19th and 20th November, 1941.
