No. 8. 403. It is hereby notified that scaled tenders which shall be clearly marked "Teuder for the Supply of 4,800 Journal Bearings for Railway Wagons to Kowloon-Canton Railway", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until noon of Monday, the 29th of September, 1941.

Scrap and old copper coins may not be used.

Delivery to be affected at the rate of 600 pieces seven days after receipt of order and thereafter a continuous supply of 600 per week shall be maintained until completion of the order.

The castings shall be supplied without machining but generally shall be fairly smooth.

Each lot of 600 pieces shall not vary by more than 3% by weight of machined sample.

Excess weight will not be paid for.

A test sample shall be submitted for examination per each lot of 600 pieces.

The department's inspector shall have the right to visit the premises of the manu- facturer at any time to examine the raw materials used.

Finished castings shall be subjected to such tests as may be required by the Chief Engineer.

The sample, drawings and all further details may be obtained on application to the Chief Engineer, Hung Hom, on payment of a deposit fee of $50.00 with the Chief Accountant of the Railway.

The successful tenderer shall be required to give security for the sum of $2,000.00 in cash to be deposited with the Accountant-General for the due and faithful performance of such contract.

The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.
