No. S. 333.-It is hereby notified that sealed tenders in triplicate, which should be clearly marked Tender for Island Road-Reconstruction of Bridges", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Monday, the 25th day of August, 1941. The work comprises the reconstruction of Bridge No. 1 Repulse Bay Road as a concrete culvert together with all excavation, filling, road surfacing and contingent works.
As security for the proper performance of the works under this contract, the successful tenderer will be required to deposit, in cash, a sum of $1,500 with the Accountant-General.
Any tenderer may be required as a condition of the consideration or acceptance of his tender to supply full particulars of the constitution of his firm.
A tender is received only on the condition that it shall remain open for acceptance for twenty-one clear days after the date of its submission.
For form of tender, specification and further particulars apply at this Office.
The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.

NOTICE OF FIRING PRACTICE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE DEFENCES (FIRING AREAS) ORDINANCE, 1936.
1. Light gun firing practice will be carried out on 11th, 12th, 13th and 15th August, 1941, between the hours of 6.00 p.m. and 12.00 midnight.
Firing Areas D" and "E" will be affected.
2. Heavy gun anti-aircraft firing practice will be carried out in the western area of the Island on 12th August, 1941, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Firing Areas "D" and "E" will be affected.
Alternative dates-13th and 14th August, 1941.
3. Light gun anti-aircraft practice will be carried out on 16th August, 1941, in the eastern area of the Island between the hours of 8.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m.
Firing Area "B" will be affected.
4. Light gun firing practice will be carried out on 17th August, 1941, between the hours of 2.00 p.m. and 7.00 p.m.
Firing Area 'D" will be affected.
5. In accordance with sub-section 4 of section 4 of the Defences (Firing Areas) Ordinance, 1936, masters of ships and pilots of aircraft exempt from the operation of this Ordinance under section 10 as amended by Hong Kong Government Notifications of various dates, are warned to assist in the carrying out of the firing practice by hastening through the firing areas affected or by consenting to be towed out of the firing area, if necessary, by any vessel acting under the orders of the Military Authorities.
