Spoil Ground-Light Buoys Established.

Former Notice. - No. 53/1941 of the 28th February, 1941, hereby cancelled.

Position.(a) 193° distant 7 cables from Siniop Beacon.

(b) 156° distant 11 cables from Siniop Beacon.

Details.-Light buoys have been laid in the above positions to mark the Northern

limit of the Spoil Ground Area.

Description.--Yellow can buoys with top mark each carrying a lantern showing a

fixed red light.

Remarks.-Siniop Beacon Lat. 01° 23' 15" N.. long. 103° 51' 12" E. (Approx.).

HONG KONG WATERS-BLACKOUT EXERCISE.

1. A Blackout Exercise will take place on the 17th April, 1941.

2. In this exercise, the blackout will automatically commence at sunset (1844 hours) and terminate at 2200 hours on that day when normal lighting and sea traffic will be resumed.

3. External lights of every description on board vessels are prohibited; and all internal lights must either be extinguished or obscured, so that no light is visible either from above or from any other direction. (See paragraph 7 which concerns ferries).

4. Torches may be used to meet any special circumstance, but they must be screened with two thicknesses of ordinary blue close-woven cloth or coated with paint.

5. The following lights in the Hong Kong Area will be extinguished throughout the night of the 17th-18th April, 1941:-

Waglan Island, Tathong Point, Cape Collison, South Lyeemun, North Lyeemun, Channel Rock, Cust Rock, North Fairway Buoy, Central Fairway Buoy, South Fairway Buoy, Green Island, Ma Wan Island, Kap Sing Island, and the lights at the Entrances to the Yaumati Bay Typhoon Shelter. NOTE:-Waglan Island, Cape Collison and Green Island will be relighted at

2200 hours.
