STRAITS SETTLEMENTS-PENANG HARBOUR-SOUTH CHANNEL.
Depth of water in channel.
Position. Lat. 5° 20' N., long. 100° 21′ E. (Approx.).
Details. The South Channel has been dredged between Lat. 5° 19′ N., and
5° 22′ N.
The northern arm has a depth of at least 24 ft. at M.L.W.S., and the southern arm has been dredged to a depth of 24 ft. at M.L.W.S. over a width of 230 ft. i.c. 115 ft. either side of the centre line.
Remarks. The sides of the channel carry a depth of 22 ft.

Position.--Lat. 31° 07′ N., long. 122° 27′ E. (Aprox.).
Details.-A light buoy painted Red and exhibiting a flashing light every 15 seconds
is reported as having been established in the above position.
