(2) Where such permission has been given no part of a floor to which the licence relates is to be used for sleeping purposes unless it has been partitioned off from the remainder of the floor to the satisfaction of the Proper Authority; and no part of the trade shall be permitted in the part so partitioned off for sleeping purposes.

38. (1) Every restaurant and eating-house and all equipment therein shall be kept at all times in a cleanly condition and free from all noxious matter.

(2) Except with the permission in writing of the Proper Authority no unsalted flesh meat shall be brought into the premises of any restaurant or eating-house or used or con- sumed therein other than that which has been slaughtered in the Government Slaughter Houses or which has been imported from Canada, Australia or New Zealand or from such other localities as may from time to time be approved.

(3) Every licensee shall at all times provide a sufficient quantity of boiling water and shall cause every chop stick and utensil to be washed in boiling water after their use by one customer and before their use by another.

(4) No food in a state of complete or partial preparation for human consumption shall be obtained from external sources unless from a registered food factory. The licensee of any Restaurant or Eating-house shall, upon the request of a Health Officer or Food Officer, produce evidence of origin of any partially or completely prepared food which may have been obtained from external sources.

37. The licensee of any restaurant or eating-house shall not permit any person suffering from an infectious or con- tagious disease to remain or be employed on the premises.

38. The licensee of any restaurant or eating-house shall cause to be continuously displayed, in a conspicuous position on every floor of his licensed premises, while such premises are open to the public, a notice or notices of a size and' form approved by the Proper Authority and in a language prescribed by the Proper Authority requiring his customers not to spit on the floor: Provided that the Proper Authority may, in its discretion, exempt in writing any premises from the above requirement as to display of notice, and revoke in writing any such exemption.

39. All food, whether or not prepared for immediate consumption, shall be adequately protected against con- tamination by dust, flies and vermin to the satisfaction of the Health Officer.

40. The licensee shall not permit disorderly conduct on his premises, or suffer unlawful games or gaming therein, or permit or suffer any prostitute to frequent such premises or to remain therein..

41. No intoxicating liquor shall be sold, served or con- sumed in any eating-house, nor any opium smoked in any restaurant or eating-house.

42. Eating-houses shall be closed between midnight and 6 a.m. and no meals or refreshments shall be supplied during that period to any person not resident therein.
