COLONIAL SECRETARY'S DEPARTMENT.
In exercise of the powers conferred by the Emergency Powers (Defence) Acis, 1989 and 1940, as applied to this Colony by the Emergency Powers (Colonial Defence) Order in Council, 1939, and the Emergency Powers (Colonial Defence) (Amendment) Order in Council, 1940, His Excellency the Governor further amends the Defence (Finance) Regula- tions, 1940, published as Government Notification 328 in the Gazette of 21st March, 1940, as subsequently amended, as follows-
Amendment.
The following regulation is inserted immediately after regulation 2A, as enacted by Government Notification $93 published in the Gazette Extraordinary of 26th July, 1941—
2B.-(1) Subject to any exemptions for which provision may be made by order of the Governor, no person shall, whether on his own behalf or for, or on behalf of or jointly with, any other person, except under the authority of a written permit granted by or on behalf of the Governor-
(a) do any act which directly or indirectly constitutes, forms part of, leads to or assists any exchange transaction involving Chinese National currency, whether such transac-
