Order.

In exercise of the powers conferred on him by regulation 64 of the Defence Regulations, 1940, His Excellency the Governor hereby makes the following order-

1. Except with the special permission of the Commis- sioner of Police, it shall not be lawful for any sky sign, facia or advertisement to be illuminated or any light to be other- wise displayed outside or at the entrance to any premises or on any hoarding or similar structure—

(a) in the city of Victoria;

(b) in Kowloon and New Kowloon,

during the period from midnight on the night of the 5th/6th September, 1941, until sunrise on 6th September; and

(c) in Aberdeen;

(d) in Victoria and Kowloon east of a line drawn from

the China Fleet Club to Holts Wharf,

during the period from 10 p.m. on the night of the 7th/8th September, 1941. until sunrise on 8th September.

2. Except with the special permission of the Commis- sioner of Police, during the periods and in the areas specified in paragraph 1 all street lighting and all lights on piers and wharves shall be extinguished:

Provided that nothing in this order shall apply to any light necessary for the working of cargo on any vessel or to any light necessary for the carrying on of essential work in a dockyard.

It is hereby notified that BENJAMIN DAVIES EVANS has been re-assigned from the Combatant Group to the Key-Posts Group in the Hong Kong Defence Reserve, under the provisions of the Compulsory Service Ordinance, 1939.
