ORDINANCE No. 40 of 1912 (VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC REGULATION).
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Vehicles and Traffic Regulation Ordinance, 1912, the Governor in Council hereby amends the regulations made under the said Ordinance appearing on pages 723 to 803 of Volume II of the Regulations of Hong Kong (1937 Edition) as amended by Government Notification No. 169 in the Gazette of the 16th February, 1940, as follows:-
Amendments.
1. In regulation 153 under the heading "In Kowloon- Large Cabs" 10 cents is substituted for 5 cents in items (2) and (3).
2. In regulation 153 under the heading "In Kowloon- Small Cabs", 40 cents is substituted for 35 cents in item (1), and the word "fifth" is substituted for the word "quarter" in item (2).

NOTE: From the above date the following will be the fares for the hiring of taxicabs :-
IN HONG KONG.
(1) for a distance not exceeding one mile ... 50 cents.
(2) for each quarter of a mile in excess of
one mile
(3) waiting time with meter shut off-for each period of five minutes
IN KOWLOON.
For Large Cabs→→
(1) for a distance not exceeding one mile (2) for each quarter of a mile in excess of one
mile
(3) waiting time with meter shut off-for
each period of five minutes
For Small Cabs-
