Application for Registration of Trade Mark.
OTICE is hereby given that The AFRICAN CIGARETTE Co. LTD., of Cairo, Egypt, Tobacco Manufacturers, have on the 3rd day of September, 1912, applied for the registra- tion in Hongkong in the Register of Trade Marks of the following Trade Mark:-
The Trade Mark consists of a label con- taining in the middle a design intro- ducing a Moorish archway shewing a view of an Eastern Citadel repre- senting a number of oriental build- ings. Underneath the picture of the buildings is a band whereon appear certain Arabic characters respresent- ing the name "African Cigarette Co. Ltd. followed by the words " Cairo, Alexandria, Port Said, Khartoum, London & Bristol". Above the repre- sentation of the buildings is a laurel wreath enclosing a foot attached to which is a wing. Outside the picture of the Moorish archway are devices representing pillars of ornamental design with a double headed bird at the foot of each pillar. On either side of this arrangement is the repre- sentation of the wreath and winged foot before referred to about which are various curves terminating with floral embellishments".

The Trade Mark has been used by the Applicants in respect of Manufactured To- bacco, in Class 45.

OTICE is hereby given that Messrs. BUTLER-BUTLER, of New York in the United States of America, Tobacco Manufac- turers, have on the 3rd day of September, 1912, applied for the registration in Hongkong in the Register of Trade Marks of the follow- jng Trade Mark :--
The Trade Mark consists of a label in the middle of which are the the distinc- tive words" Pall Mall" in large type, below which are the words "Famous cigarettes". In the top left hand corner is a representation of an Eagle holding in one claw a representation of a twig and in the other a represen- tation of three spears and above the Eagle are star like devices. In the bottom right hand corner are the letters B B with a star above and below and a crescent to the left, the letters. stars and crescent being en- closed in two circles which are sur- rounded by a border with a serrated edge. At the left hand bottom cor ner appear the words "Butler-Butler Co."
and under them the words "New York'
in the name of BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO Co., LTD., of No. 18 Bank Buildings. Hong- kong, and Cecil Chambers, 86, Strand, London, W.C., who claim to be the sole proprietors thereof.

"The Trade Mark consists of a rectan- gular label containing in the middle a representation of the head of a female with a head-dress consisting of the figure of a bird suggestive of Cleopatra, the figure being enclosed within a circular outline with pro- jections at the top and sides. At the bottom of the circular outline is a bow with devices resembling ears of corn projecting thereform. On the left hand side of this figure is a repre- sentation of the Egyptian Sphinx and pyramids underneath which are the Arabic characters representing Office of Nicolas Soussa Brothers in Cairo Esbekich in front or Hotel Schaefer'.
