TOBA LOW LIGHT.

Position :-Lat. 34° 29' 7" N., Long, 136° 50′ 38′′ E. (According to the Japanese

Admiralty chart No. 87.)

Description Square iron tower painted white.

Height of light :-743 ft. from the base and 136-2 ft. above the water.

Character of light :-Acetylene gas flashing white light; light t second, eclipse

4 seconds.

Illuminated are: An are of 40°, from S. 37° W. to S. 77° W. (Magnetic bearings

taken from seaward.)

Candle power:-200.

Distance visible:-13 nautical miles in clear weather.

Vessels entering or leaving the harbour will clear the sunken rocks in the Sugashima- suido at the entrance to the harbour by keeping the high and low lights in a straight line. The alignment of the leading lights bears S. 68° 30′ W.

CONFUCIUS CHANNEL AND THE LANGSHAN CROSSING.

Intended Alterations in Buoyage.

NOTICE is hereby given that on or about the 27th March 1912 the following changes in aids to navigation marking the Confucius Channel and Langshan Crossing will be made:-

The Dove's Nest Upper Buoy will be shifted to 6'3 cables N. 19° W. from its

The Action Buoy will be shifted 26 cables N. 25° E. from its present position. A 6-feet conical Buoy, painted red, and to be named the Plover Point Buoy, will be placed in a position from which the Langshan Pagoda will bear N. 283° W., and distant 11:28 miles. It will mark the starboard side of the channel for vessels bound up river.

The Middle Bank Buoy will be shifted 1:55 miles N. 75° E. from its present posi-

It tion, and its colour changed from red and black horizontal stripes to red. will mark the starboard side of the channel for vessels bound up river. The North Bank Buoy will be shifted 103 miles S. 664 E. from its present posi-

tion.

The Langshan Buoy will be shifted 49 cables S. 60° E. from its present position. The Upper Crossing Buoy will be shifted 6-4 cables N. 41° E. from its present

position.

All bearings given are magnetic.

A further Notice will be issued on the completion of these alterations.
