SOUTH AUSTRALIA.

No. 28 of 1911.

AUSTRALIA SOUTH COAST.

FLOATING DERELICT.

MASTERS of vessels and others are informed that the master S.S. India reported that his vessel felt a severe shock on October 26th when in latitude 35° 16' S., longitude 121° 161' E. It is now reported by the master of the S.S. Monaro that on the 4th instant, when in latitude 35° 17′ S., longitude 123° 25′ E., he passed a quantity of wreckage, apparently the hull of a water-logged vessel, with deckhouse attached. At the time he passed there was a considerable roll from the south, wind S.E. fresh, and the sea was breaking around the wreckage, which is evidently drifting with wind or current at the rate of about nine miles in 24 hours.

Masters of vessels are cautioned to keep a sharp lookout when navigating the vicinity. This affects Admiralty chart No. 275a.
