No. S. 342-It is hereby notified that sealed tenders in quadruplicate, which should be clearly marked "Tender for the supply of Coal to Kowloon-Canton Railway will be received at the Colonial Treasurer's Office until Noon of Monday, the 1st day of November, 1937, for the supply of Locomotive Coal to the Kowloon-Canton Railway for the period of one year from 1st January, 1938.
Prices quoted should be on the basis of current rates of freight and insurance. The contract to be signed will provide for the variation of the price in accordance with any increase or reduction in freight and/or insurance and will include a clanse in the following form:
"The prices payable under this Agreement are based on the charges for freight and insurance current at the date of this Agreement. If there shall become effective after the date hereof and before the expiration or sooner determina- tion of the term of this Agreement any increase or reduction of the charges for freight and/or insurance, the prices payable under this Agreement shall be increased or reduced conformatively with such increase or reduction PROVIDED ALWAYS that the Government shall be at liberty in the event of any increase in the charges for freight and/or insurance becoming effective as aforesaid to determine this Agreement upon giving to the Contractors one month's notice in writing and such power of determination shall be without prejudice to any other powers of determination which may accrue to the Government under any of the provisions of this Agreement."
No tender will be received unless the person tendering produces a receipt to the effect that he has deposited in the Colonial Treasury the sum of $250 as a pledge of the bona fides of his offer, which sum shall be forfeited to the Crown if such person refuses to carry out his tender, if accepted.
The successful tenderer will be required to sign a formal contract and to give security in the sum of $5,000 in cash to be deposited with the Colonial Treasurer for the due and faithful performance of the terms of such contract.

The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT.
No. S. 343.-It is hereby notified that scaled tenders in triplicate which should be clearly markel Tender for Repairs to Kowloon City Ferry Pier Approach", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Monday, the 25th day of October, 1937. The work comprises the reconstruction of the approach causeway and R.C. Pier.
As security for the proper performance of the works under this contract, the successful tenderer will be required to deposit, in cash, a sum of $500 with the Colonial Treasury.
For form of tender, specification and further particulars apply at this Office. The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.
