No. 664.-- His Majesty the KING has been pleased to approve the appointment of the Honourable Dr. DOUGLAS JAMES VALENTINE to be an Official Member of the Legislative Council during his tenure of office as Acting Director of Medical Services, with effect from the 11th June, 1937.

No. 665..-His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased to approve the following promotions and appointments in the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, with effect from 10th September, 1937 :-

Lieutenant FRANCISCO PAULO SEQUEIRA to be Captain.

Second Lieutenant LESLIE BENJAMIN HOLMES to be Lieutenant. Company Sergeant-Major KYRIE CLAUDE HAMILTON to be Lieutenant. Lance-Sergeant WILFRED HERBERT OWEN to be Second Lieutenant. Sergeant FRANCisco Vicente VIEIRA RIBEIRO to be Second Lieutenant.

SUPREME COURT.

No. 666.-The offices of the Supreme Court will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the Long Vacation, except on public and general holidays, when the offices will be entirely closed and on Saturday when they will be open from 10 a.m. to noon, subject, however, to the provisious of Section 5 of the Supreme Court (Vacations) Ordinance, 1898, so far as it relates to the Criminal Sessions. The Long Vacation com- mences on the 20th September and terminates on the 17th October 1937, (both days inclusive).
