No. 579.- His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased to appoint Mr. GEOFFREY ALTON CRAIG HERKLOTS, Ph.D., M.Sc., F.L.S., Reader in Biology of the University of Hong Kong, to act as Superintendent of the Botanical and Forestry Department until further notice, with effect from the 18th August, 1937.

No. 580.-His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased to appoint GEORGE MCNEILL HARGREAVES, M.B., Ch.B., M.R.C.P. (Edin.), D.P.H. (Lond.), D.O.M.S. (Eng.), to act as Second Port Health Officer and Inspector of Emigrants, in addition to his other duties, with effect from 18th August, 1937.

COLONIAL SECRETARY'S DEPARTMENT.
No. 581.-It is hereby notified that the following charges are payable for the removal of a patient in an ambulance to or from any private hospital (except the Matilda Hospital) or private residence :-
HONG KONG, KOWLOON AND NEW TERRITORIES.
1. By motor ambulance :----
(a) $5.00 per journey not exceeding 15 miles.
(b) $10.00 per journey exceeding 15 miles.
Note (i) Each journey begins at the Ambulance Station from which the ambulance goes out, and terminates where the patient is delivered at his or her destination.
Note (ii) When the patient is conveyed across the harbour the follow-
ing additional charges are payable :-
(a) When the ambulance crosses the harbour by vehicular ferry an additional charge of $3 shall be made for ferry fees.
(b) When the patient is transferred across the harbour by Star Ferry a separate charge shall be made for each of the two ambulances required, computed as laid down in 1 above. In this case no charge will be made for the ferry fee.
2. By hand ambulance:
(a) Victoria (lower levels), Old Kowloon, Kowloon City and Sham
Shui Po
(b) Elsewhere in New Kowloon

(c) Victoria above Bowen Road level, other parts of Hong Kong
Island and New Territories..
$6.00
3. All ambulance cases removed to the Matilda Hospital, The Peak, will be
charged half fees.
Government Notification No. 575 dated 11.9.31 is hereby rescinded.
