VII. Additional sheets of paper will be provided by the Examiner, if required. Only one side should be used, and the candidate should sign his name at the foot of each sheet, on the cover of each answer-book and on each sheet of drawing paper used.
VIII. Candidates may, if they wish, use slide-rules for checking their calculations, but in each case the full working necessary for arriving at the result must be shown in ink, otherwise no significance will be attached to the answer.
IX. The question papers and mathematical tables, which are the property of the Government, must not be written upon or defaced in any way.
X. No candidate may leave his seat or the examination room without permission; and if he leaves the room he will not be permitted to go on with any sheet or problem which he had in hand before leaving the room.
XI. Candidates must not communicate with each other or use any unfair means.
XII. Candidates are not allowed to write down their answers to examination questions in order to take them from the room.
XIII. A Candidate guilty of any breach of these rules will be subjected to all the penalties of failure, and may be excluded from further examination for such period as the Governor may decide.
54. Mathematical Tables. All candidates for ex- amination may use the mathematical tables provided, and the Examiner will be careful to observe that they are not used to conceal memoranda prepared for these examinations.
55. Leaving Examination Room (Rule X).-In the event of a candidate being permitted to leave the room, the Examiner should substitute other questions for those which have not been attempted.
56. Penalty for Breach of Rules (Rule XIII).– The circumstances attending any breach of the Rules or any disorderly or improper conduct in or about the examination room, should be reported immediately to the Chief Examiner, who will in due course advise the Examiner as to any penalty the Governor may decide to inflict.
57. Marking Worked Papers,-The value of the work done in all four sections of the First and Second Class examinations (Practical Mathematics, Drawing, Engineering Knowledge, Verbals) will be assessed and recorded in accordance with the following scale :-

In order to pass, a candidate's work should be "good" in all four sections, but it must be "Good" or "Superior" in Verbals. A "Consider" in either the Practical Mathe- matics, Drawing or Engineering Knowledge paper may be
