Special consideration will be given to applicants who have performed service on auxiliary machinery used in conjunction with the main propelling machinery. Applicants desiring credit for such service should state the power output of the auxiliary machinery, whether it is run continuously, and whether they have been in sole charge or in part charge of such machinery. Each case will be considered by the Chief Examiner of Engineers in order that it may be decided what proportion, if any, of such service may count as qualifying time.
In no case may time spent on clerical work or on fitting or overhauling machinery, either on regular watch or on day work, be regarded as qualifying watch keeping service.
