An Ordinance to amend the Bills of Exchange Ordinance, 1885, and the Falsification of Documents Ordinance, 1935.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Bills of Exchange Short title. and Falsification of Documents Amendment Ordinance, 1936.

2. The Bills of Exchange Ordinance, 1885, is amended New by the insertion of the following section after section 82A :

section 82B for Ordinance No. 3 of 1885.

82B, Sections 76 to 82, both inclusive, shall extend to Extension any document issued by a customer of any banker, and of sections intended to enable any person or body corporate to obtain to certain payment from such banker of the sum mentioned in such documents. document, and shall so extend in like manner as if the said 46 & 47 document were a cheque: Provided that nothing in this Vict. c. 55, section shall be deemed to render any such document a negotiable instrument. For the purposes of this section the Colonial Treasurer shall be deemed to be a banker, and the public officers drawing on him shall be deemed customers.

3. The Falsification of Documents Ordinance, 1935, is Repeal of amended by the repeal of section 2 thereof.
