ORDINANCE No. 10 of 1899.
(MERCHANT SHIPPING).
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 25 (4) of the Merchant Shipping Ordinance, 1899, the Governor in Council hereby rescinds regulation 5 in Table X under the heading "B. -Yaumati Bay." and substitutes the following regulation :-
5. Southern Entrance.-
(1) Launches and other mechanically propelled vessels shall proceed in and out of the Yaumati Typhoon Shelter at a speed not exceeding 3 miles per hour.
(2) Heavy lighters of over 1500 piculs capacity shall only be towed singly through the entrance.
(3) Not more than two lighters of from 500 to 1500 piculs capacity shall be towed through the entrance at a time.
(4) Not more than four small cargo boats under 500 piculs capacity shall be towed through the entrance at a time, and where more than one of such cargo boats is towed the boats shall be in lines of two abreast.
(5) Not more than nine passenger boats and other small craft shall be towed through the entrance at a time and in lines not exceeding three abreast.
Northern Entrance.-
Launches and other mechanically propelled vessels using the Northern Entrance shall proceed at a speed not exceeding 3 miles per hour. In the case of launches towing lighters and other craft the number in tow may be double the number allowed for the Southern Entrance provided that lighters and cargo boats are not more than two abreast and passenger boats and other small craft not more than four abreast.
