They are purely Staff Petty Officers and are not entitled by virtue of their Naval Rank to take the command of any of the H.K.N.V, when a Petty Officer of the Force is present except for the purpose of instruction.
They are to consider the Officer Instructor as their im- mediate Superior and apply to him in all matters that may be necessary.
They are expected on all occasions to set an example to the H.K.N.V. and they will only be allowed to retain their positions so long as they conduct themselves and perform their duties satisfactorily.
Each Petty Officer is to keep such record of the Drills carried out under his supervision as the Officer Instructor may require.
ENTRY AND APPOINTMENT OF COMMISSIONED AND WARRANT

9. All commissioned and warrant Officers and Cadets of Entry and the Force are appointed by the Governor and receive appoint- appointment ments, warrants or commissions in a similar manner to Officers and Cadets. and Cadets of corresponding rank in the R.N.
All Candidates recommended by the H.K.N.V. Committee will be nominated by the Commodore for appointment, warrant or commission.
Officers who have resigned their commissions in the R.N., R.N.R, or R.N.V.R. may apply for entry in the Force.
All Candidates for entry must satisfy :
(a) A Medical Board that they are physically fit for service in the branch which they wish to enter.
(b) The H.K.N.V. Committee that they have the qualifica- tions required of an Officer or Cadet..
All commissioned and warrant Officers and Cadets will be entered on probation and will not be confirmed until they have
(a) Served for a year as probationary.
(b) Been recommended as suitable by the Commanding Officer.
Branch.
The Special Branch of the Force will consist of those who Special have no qualifications for and are not required to perform executive, engineering, medical, accountant or chaplains duties, but who are required as specialists in certain subjects such as Civil Engineers, Chemists, Designers, Professors, Artists, Interpreters, etc.
HONORARY COMMISSIONS.
10. The Force is allowed an Honorary Commander and Honorary
Commissions. such other Honorary Officers as the Governor may think fit to sanction.
Such Officers may wear the uniform of their respective ranks on ceremonial occasions in the Colony. If worn, it must be that which is appropriate to the occasion.
