ORDINANCE No. 14 of 1901. (GUNPOWDER AND FIREWORKS).
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 16 of the Gunpowder and Fireworks Ordinance, 1901, the Governor in Council amends the Rules with regard to the Storage of Fire- works set forth in Government Notification No. 162, published in the Gazette of the 18th March, 1932, as follows:-
Amendments.
(1) Rule 2 is rescinded and the following rule is substituted therefor :--
2. As regards any quantity of fireworks in excess of 50 lbs. in weight but not in excess of 400 lbs. in weight, the fireworks shall not be stored by any person in any premises where---
(a) paints. oils, petrol or other inflammable liquid, tar, pitch. resin, hay, straw, cotton, hemp, rattan shavings, or other combustible fibre or stock are manufactured or kept for sale or storage, or as stock-in-trade; or
(b) the trade or business of a carpenter shop or drug
store is carried on, or
(c) goods of light material of a combustible nature (other than safety matches, joss paper, joss sticks, flags, paper lanterns, paper balloons, decorations or newspapers) are kept for sale or storage, or as stock-in-trade; or
(d) goods are stored in respect of which a licence under the Dangerous Goods Ordinance, 1873, is required; or
(e) any dutiable or duty-paid goods are kept for
sale or storage, or as stock-in-trade.
(2) The following rule is inserted next after rule 2:-
2A. No fireworks shall be kept by any person at any premises in respect of which a licence for the storage of kerosine is held unless such kerosine is stored only in a court or open space at the rear of the premises and in a sunken pit approved by the Inspector General of Police. (3) Rule 4 is rescinded and the following rule is substituted therefor :-
4. Except as regards any quantity of fireworks not in excess of 50 lbs. in weight kept in a Chinese Grocery Shop() in a glass fronted cabinet approved by the Inspector General of Police and fixed in a position as far as practicable from the means of entry or egress and the stairway (if any) leading to any upper floors, no fire- works which are not stored in a magazine or permitted godown, as mentioned in rule 6, shall be stored by any
