RULE XVII.

No person may apply for a grave space except for immediate burial and unless he shall have produced to the Secretary a burial permit from the Sanitary Board.

RULE XVIII.

Every subscriber to the said Cemeteries shall be required to erect, at his own expense, substantial retaining walls (where necessary) to support and generally to lay out, the grave site allotted to him.

RULE XIX.

A Register of all areas allotted for burial shall be kept by the Secretary to the Board and Certificates of allctment shall be signed by the Secretary and Treasurer. The Secretary shall also keep a Register of all graves from which the remains have been exhumed.

RULE XX.

Suitable receptacles shall be provided for cracker firing &c. Every person responsible for a grave space and all persons coming to the Cemeteries for the purpose of worship or otherwsie shall be required to keep the Rules of the

said Cemeteries.

RULE XXI.

Damage to property, trees &c. shall be made good by the person causing such damage.

RULE XXII.

The existing tombs belonging to the Nam Hoi and Tung Kun Districts. within the Aberdeen area shall be left undisturbed.

RULE XXIII.

The Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer, together with such other mem- bers of the Board as may be appointed by the Board at its annual meeting. shall constitute a Committee of Inspection of the Cemeteries for the ensuing

year.

RULE XXIV.

No tomb-stones, ornamental or other erections or structures higher than 6 feet shall be erected on any grave space or any part thereof or on land adjacent thereto without the consent in writing of the Board being first had and obtained. In the event of any tomb-stone or other erections or structures being erected on a grave site higher than 6 feet without permission of the Board, the Board shall give notice to the person responsible therefor requiring him to lower such height to 6 feet. Provided always that the Board shall have power to allow or permit such tomb-stone erection or structure to remain undisturbed under such terms and conditions as the Board shall think fit. Provided further that should the person responsible for the same fail to comply with the notice of the Board requiring him to lower the height of any structure belonging to him the Board may cause such structure to be removed or lowered at the cost and expense of the person responsible there for who shall pay such cost and expense incurred by the Board. Such cost and expense shall be recoverable from the person responsible therefor as damages.
