NOTICES TO MARINERS.
THE Japanese Government have issued a Notice to Mariners announcing the laying of a new telegraph cable between Inno Shima and Ikuchi-Jima Inland Sea.
A sketch plan, showing the position of the new cable, is posted in this Office, for the information of ship masters interested.

THE Master of the British S. S. Kumchou reports having seen a large steel European lighter adrift in Latitude 17° 50′ N. and Longitude 118° 38' E. in the direct tract of ships bound between Hongkong and Manila on the 5th December, 1910.

NORTH CHANNEL ENTRANCE TO THE YANGTZE.
Light on Shaweishan Submarine Bell Buoy Extinguished.
NOTICE is hereby given that the light on the experimental Shaweishan Submarine Bell Buoy is extinguished and will not be relighted until about the 4th December. Seamen are requested to take precautions to avoid colliding with the Buoy at night. The Submarine Bell is sounding effectively and should be audible at a distance of 1 mile to a person in a vessel's hold whose car is in contact with the ship's side (below the water) which is opposed to the Buoy.

Establishment of North Saddle Submarine Bell.
NOTICE is hereby given that a Submarine Bell has been placed in 15 fathoms of water at low water of spring tides, with North Saddle Lighthouse bearing S. 8° E. (magnetic), distant 8 cables.
The characteristic of the Bell is double strokes at intervals of 4 seconds. The Bell will be sounded in thick weather.
