An Ordinance to amend the Promissory Oaths

Ordinance, 1869.

Be it emneted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as "The Promissory Short title Oaths Amendment Ordinance, 1910," and shall be read as one with the Promissory Oaths Onlinance, 1869.

2. The Schedule to the Promissory Oaths Ordinance, Substitutes 1869, is hereby repealed and the following Schedule is New substituted therefor and shall be read in lieu thereof :- Schedule

and

The oaths to be tendered

by the Governor.

The oaths to be tendered by the Clerk of the Councils in the pre- sence of the Governor,

The oaths to be tendered by one of the Police Magistrates.

Memorandum,

This Bill substitutes a new Schelule for that contained in the Promissory Oaths Ordinance, 1869, with a view mainly of providing that the oaths required to be taken by Justices of the Peace shall in future be administered by a Police Magistrate.
