HARBOUR NOTIFICATION.
No. 4 of 1910.
NOTICE is hereby given that on or about the 10th May next the depth of water in the Astræn Channel will be shown from the signal-mast near the Woosung Light-house and from a signal-mast which will be erected at the upper side of the mouth of the Kajow Creek, and the signals now shown at the Woosung Inner Signal Station will be discontinued. The yard-arms on the new signal-mast at the Kajow Signal Station will point east and west respectively. For signalling purposes, the eastern yard-arm will correspond with the present Woosung Signal Stations' northern yard-arins, and the western yard-arm with that of the present southern yard-arms.
The difference between the depth of water on what is known as the Woosung Outer Bar and that in the Astræa Channel will be shown, from below the parapet of the Woosung Light-house during day-light, by symbols as under:---

When the depth of water on the Woosung Outer Bar is more than in the Astræa Channel, the signals will be shown on the northern side of the Woosung Light-house, and when less, on the southern side.

TRANSLATION.
Notification No. 392 of Department of Communications.
MEKARI-SETO TIDAL OBSERVATION LIGHTBUOY MOORED. NOTICE is hereby given that Mekari-seto Tidal Observation Lightbuoy (see Notification No. 251 of Department of Communications, March 1910) has been moored as follows:-
Position: Northward of Obama-saki at the north end of Iuno-shima, Mekari-seto
Inland Sea.
Construction and painting--Iron cylindrical, surmounted by a lattice-work supporting the lautern, the one half side painted white and the other half side red.
Height:--About 10 feet above the water.
Character of light:--Aceton gas flashing light showing one flash every 4 seconds,
the one half side white and the other half side red.
Illuminated arc :--'
-The whole horizon.
Distance visible:--White light, about 8 nautical miles, and red light, about 7
nautical miles, in clear weather.
Depth of water--114 fathoms at L. W. S. T.
Magnetic bearings taken from the buoy :--
Soyama-no-hana................
.............. N. 56°55′ W.
North end of Yoso-shima...... N. 67°15′ W. South end of Sasa-shima ......S. 75°19′ E.
This buoy being rotated by the current, the white and red sides do not always remain in the definite positions.
