An Ordinance to amend the Liquor Licences Ordinance, 1898, and the Liquor Licences Extension Ordinance, 1908, and to repeal the Liquor Licences Amendment Ordinance, 1902.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Liquor Licences Short title Amendment Ordinance, 1909, and it shall be read and and con- construel as one with the Liquor Licences Ordinance, 1898, struction, hereinafter referred to as the Principal Ordinance, and with the Liquor Licences Extension Ordinance, 1908, and this Ordinance and the said Ordinances may hereafter be eited together as the Liquor Licences Ordinances, 1898-

2. Section 2 of the Principal Ordinance is hereby Amendment amended by repealing the definitions of “ wholesale licence" "adjunct licence" and "grocer's licence and substituting therefor the following definitions : ---

"Wholesale " menus the sale of intoxicating liquors by the unopened cask, jar or case in quantities of not less than two gallons of one liquor at one time, such liquors not to be consumed on the premises.

"Hotel keeper's adjunct licence" means a licence to hotel or boarding house keepers for the retail sale of intoxicating liquors for consumption on the premises,——

(a.) to persons residing at the time of sale on the

licensed premises;

(b.) to persons other than such residents, only in the dining room and in conjunction with the regular meals of the establishment :

but does not authorise the keeping of a public or private bar.

"Restaurant adjunet licence” means a licence to restan- rateurs for the retail sale, between such hours as the Governor-in-Council may from time to time prescribe, of intoxicating liquors for consumption on the premises and only in conjunction with a bona fide meal for which a charge of at least thirty cents can be reasonably made; but does not authorise the keeping of a public or private bar,

*Dealer's licence means a licence to sell intoxicating liquors (Chinese wines and spirits excepted) either whole- sale or by the bottle, such liquors not to be consumed on the premises.
