No. 697. It is hereby notified, with reference to Government Notification No. 365 of 1906, that the following Special Conditions will not in future be set forth at length in the Particulars and Conditions of Sale of lands in the New Territories but will be referred to by the number given to them in this notice :—
Special Conditions.
1. No buildings of any description shall be erected on the Lot.
2. The Crown Rent mentioned in the Particulars of Sale is subject to re-assessment at the end of the first five years from the date on which the Lot is sold and thereafter such rent shall be paid as shall be fairly and impartially fixed by the Surveyor to His Majesty the King or by such other person as shall be appointed by the Governor of Hongkong for that purpose as the fair and reasonable rental value of the ground at the expiration of the said period of 5 years and a special proviso to that effect shall be inserted in the Crown Lease of the said Lot.
3. The purchaser shall not during the term for which the Lot is sold permit or allow the land to remain uncultivated according to the custom of the country for a period of five consecutive years at any time after the date on which the Lot is sold and a covenant to that effect shall be inserted in the Crown Lease of the said Lot.
4. The purchaser shall not have or be entitled to any right of access to the Sea or to any right of access to any water which may be near to the said Lot or on which the same abuts or to any compensation whatever in the event of any reclamation being made between any part of the said Lot and such Sea or water and a special proviso to that effect shall be inserted in the Crown Leise of the said Lot.

No. 698.-It is hereby notified that tenders will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Tuesday, the 16th November, 1909, for-
The general surface scavenging of, and the collection and removal of household and trade refuse, animal manure and sewer deposits from that portion of the City of Victoria and Hill District lying East of a boundary line formed by Wing Wo Street along Wing Lok Street to Wing Shing Street along Queen's Road Central to Gough Street Steps up Gough Street Steps to Shing Wong Street along Caine Road to Park Road at the junction of Robinson Road, to the dust boat stations, for the period of three years from the 1st day of January, 1910. The boundary roads are for scavenging purposes included in the Western District. The Eastern Portion consists of Health Districts 1 to 5 marked on a map to be seen at the Sanitary Board Office.

No tender will be considered, unless the person tendering produces a receipt to the effect that he has deposited in the Treasury the sum of $125 as a pledge of the bona fides of his tender, which sum shall be forfeited to the Crown, if any tenderer fails or refuses to carry out his tender, should the tender be accepted.
For form of tender apply at the Colonial Secretary's Office.
The successful tenderer will be required to sign a formal contract containing conditions to be prescribed by the Board and also to give security by two sureties to the satisfaction of His Excellency the Governor in the sum of $3,000; failing compliance with these require- tments the sum deposited with the tender will be forfeited.
The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.
