It is hereby notified that, on the application of GEORGE ARTHUR PEARSON of 215 Lambton Quay, Wellington, in the Dominion of New Zealand, Locomotive Engineer, His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to grant to the said GEORGE ARTHUR PEARSON provisional protection for a period of three months from the fourth day of October, 1909, for an invention for improvements relating to couplings for air and vacuum brake pipes, pending the grant of Letters Patent therefor.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Dioptric Second Order single flashing white light specified in this Office Notices to Mariners Nos. 29 of 1908 and 3 of 1909 will be exhibited on and after the 20th October, 1909.

The Light House will be known by the name of "KOTTA POINT ”.

No. 621. It is hereby notified that tenders will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon af Tuesday, the 19th October, 1909, for the supply of Stores to this Department, for the period of one year, from 1st January next.

No tender will be considered, unless the person tendering produces a receipt to the effect that he has deposited in the Colonial Treasury the sum of $125 as a pledge of the bona fides of his offer, which sum shall be forfeited to the Crown if such person fails or refuses to carry out his tender, should the tender be accepted.

For form of tender, with detailed list of articles, apply at the Colonial Secretary's Office and this form only must be used.

For further particulars, apply at this Office.

The successful tenderer will be required to sign a formal contract containing conditions to be prescribed by the Board and also to give security to the satisfaction of His Excellency the Governor in the sum of $500: failing compliance with these requirements the sum deposited with the tender will be forfeited.

The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.
