No. 638.-It is hereby notified that information has been received from the Military Authorities that Gun Practice will be carried out as under:-
On Tuesday, the 12th October:-
From Lower Belchers in a North-Westerly direction, at ranges up to 6,250
yards, commencing at 9 a.m., and finishing at 1 p.m.
On Thursday, the 14th October:---
From Saiwan and Gough in a North-Easterly and a South-Easterly direction respectively, at ranges up to 6,250 yards, commencing at 10 a.m., and finishing at 2 p.m.
If the weather is unfavourable on any of the above dates, practice will take place on the following day.
All ships, junks and other vessels are to keep clear of the range.

SANITARY DEPARTMENT.
No. 640.—It is hereby notified that ten lers will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until noon of Tuesday, the 26th October, 1909, for the removal and dumping at sea- of the City refuse by five junks towed by two steam-launches for the period of one year from the 1st January, 1910.

No tender will be considered unless the person tendering produces a receipt to the effect that he has deposited in the Treasury the sum of $200 as a pledge of the bona fides of his tender, which sum shall be forfeited to the Crown, if any tenderer fails or refuses to carry out his tender, should the tender be accepted.
For form of tender apply at the Colonial Secretary's Office.
The successful tenderer will be required to sign a formal contract containing conditions to be prescribed by the Board and also to give security by two sureties to the satisfaction of His Excellency the Governor in the sum of $3,000; failing compliance with these require- ments the sum deposited with the tender will be forfeited.
The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.
