Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-
---
1. This Ordinance may be cited as The Rating Amend- ment Ordinance, 1909, and it shall be read and construed as one with The Rating Ordinance, 1901, hereinafter re- ferred to as the Principal Ordinance.
2. Section 39 of the Principal Ordinance is hereby amended by the addition of the following sub-section :--
(3.) Any village or area in the Colony may by resolution of the Legislative Council be ex- empted from assessment for rates, and such resolution shall remain in force until it is altered or rescinded by a further resolution.” Passed the Legislative Council of Hongkong, this 1st day of September, 1909.

BE it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Dogs Amend- ment Ordinance, 1909, and it shall be read and construed as one with the Dogs Ordinance, 1893, hereinafter called the Principal Ordinance.
2. Sub-section (2) of section 3 of the Principal Ordin- ance is hereby amended by the substitution for the words "one dollar and a half" in the second line thereof of the
following words " three dollars, or such other sum as the Governor-in-Council may from time to time by notification to be published in the Gazette direet”.
3. The Captain Superintendent of Police with the ap- proval of the Governor may grant to any person a permit to keep a Dogs Home.
Every such permit shall be subject to any Regulations which may be made under section 5 of the Principal Ordin- ance, and may be revoked at any time by the Captain Superintendent of Police.
4. The provisions of sections 3 and 4 of the Principal Ordinance shall not apply to a dog while detained in any provisions of Dogs Home kept under permit from the Captain Superiú-
