Regulations made by the Governor-in-Council under the Licen- sing Ordinance, 1887, (Ordinance No. 8 of 1887), this 19th day of July, 1909.

The following Amendments are made in the Regulations relating to public vehicles, which were made by the Governor-in-Council on the 24th July, 1899, and were amended by the Governor-in-Council on the 10th day of October, 1907, and the 19th day of November,

1. The following Regulation is substituted for Regulation 2 which is hereby revoked:-

"2. Licences for public vehicles and licences for drivers, drawers or bearers of such vehicles shall be issued by the Captain Superintendent of Police who may in his discretion refuse to issue any licence. No licences shall be issued for more than 1,100 jinrickshas within the Island of Hongkong. Subject to the next rule all licences for public vehicles and all licences for drivers, drawers or bearers of such vehicles shall be taken out half-yearly, or for the residue of the current half-year, and shall expire on the 31st day of May or on the 30th day of November."

2. The following Regulation is substituted for Regulation 4 which is hereby revoked:— "4. The fees for half-yearly licences for other public vehicles shall be as follows:--

(a.) For every wheeled vehicle (other than a jinricksha) licensed for Victoria,

$18.00 (b.) For every wheeled vehicle licensed for Quarry Bay,....................... 12.00 (c.) For every wheeled vehicle (other than a motor-car)

licensed for Kowloon and the New Territories,

(d) For every motor-car licensed for Kowloon, (e.) For every chair,

The fee for a licence for a driver, drawer or bearer of a public vehicle (other than a motor-car) shall be thirty cents payable half-yearly in advance; the fee for a licence for a driver of a motor-car shall be $5 payable half-yearly in advance.”

3. The provisions of Regulations 12 and 17 shall not apply in the case of motor-cars.

4. The Table of Fares for Chairs in Victoria is hereby amended by adding the follow-

"Between the hours of 8.30 P.M. and 6 A.M. the above fares shall be increased by

50 per centum."

5. The Table of Fares for Omnibuses is hereby revoked.

6. The following shall be inserted immediately before the note at the end of the Table of Fares for Public Vehicles :-

“Fares for Public Motor-Cars in British Kowloon.

From Star Ferry Wharf, Kowloon, to Kowloon Dock, Hunghom, per passenger,

10 cents.

or if appropriate 1 by less than 3 passengers, per passenger, 30 cents."

7. The note at the end of the Table of Fares for Public Vehicles is hereby amended by deleting the figures and word "15 of 1888" and substituting therefor the figures and words"

20 of 1903 and 6 of 1901 (as amended by 41 of 1902) respectively ".
