An Ordinance to amend the Interpretation
Amendment Ordinance 1908.
Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Interpretation (Further Amendment) Ordinance, 1909.
2. Wherever in the Interpretation Amendment Or- dinance 1908 the words and figures "Ordinance No. 3 of Explanatory 1895" appear the words and figures The Repcals 1895 (in the Explanatory Ordinance 1895 (in the old edition of the Ordinauces known as Ordinance No. 3 of 1895)" shall be read in place thereof.

3. Section 2 of the Interpretation Amendment Or- The Interdinance 1938 is hereby amended by the insertion in line 2 pretation
thereof of the words and figures "The Interpretation Ordinance 1897” in place and instead of the words and figures “Ordinance No. 8 of 1897 ".

4. Sections 3 and 4 of the Interpretation Amendment Ordinance 1908 are hereby amended by the substitution of the words "The Interpretation Ordinance 1897" for the words “ Ordinance No. 8 of 1897" wherever the latter words appear.
Objects and Reasons.
The purpose of this Ordinance is to correct a confusion in reference to the Ordinances cited owing to citation of such Ordin nces by numbers which were altered when the Revised Edition of the Ordinances was compiled.
The Ordinances are referred to in the Amending Or- dinance by their short titles instead of by numbers.
