Short title and con- struction.

Repeal of Articles 43 and 45 in

the First Schedule o the Stamp Ordinance

1901.

A BILL

ENTITLED

An Ordinance to amend The Stamp Ordinance 1901 as amended by The Stamp (Amendment) Ordinance 1902.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1. This Ordinanec may be cited as The Stamp (Amend- ment) Ordinance 1909 and shall be read as

one with The Stamp Ordinance 1901 as amended by The Stamp (Amendment) Ordinance 1902.

2. Articles 43 and 45 in the First Schedule to the Stamp Ordinance 1901 are hereby repealed and the follow- ing are substituted in place thereof respectively :---

* 43. Probate or Letters of Administration, with or without the will annexed, to be calenlated upon the value of the estate and effects for or in respect of which such Probate or Letters of Administration shall be granted, exclusive of what the deceased shall have been possessed of or entitled to as a Trustee for any person or persons and not beneficially

(a) Where The estate and effects are above the value of two hundred and fifty dollars and not above the value of one thousand dollars,...

(b) Where the estate and effects are above the value of one thousand dollars and not above the value of ten thou- sand dollars,

(c) Where the estate and effects are above the value of ten thousand dollars and not above the value of one hun- dred thousand dollars,

(d) Where the estate and effects are above the value of one hundred thousand dollars and not above the value of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars,

(c) Where the estate and effects are above the value of two hundred and fifty thousand dol- } lars and not above the value of five hundred thousand dollars,

(/) Where the estate aud effects are above the value of five hundred thousand dollars and not above the value of seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars,

At the rate of one dollar for every one hundred dollars and for every fractional part of one hundred dollars over any multiple of one hundred dollars.

At the rate of two dollars for every one hundred dollars and for every fractional part of one hundred dollars over any multiple of one hundred dollars.

At the rate of three dollars- for every one hundred dollars and for every frac- tional part of one hundred dollars over any multiple of one hundred dollars.

At the rate of five dollars for every one hanudred dollars and for every fractional part of one hundred dollars over any multiple of one hundred dollars.

At the rate of five dollars and fifty cents for every one hundred dollars and for every fractional part of one hundred dollars over any multiple of one hundred dollars.

At the rate of six dollars for every one hundred dollars and for every fractional part of one hundred dol- lars over any multiple of one hundred dollars.
