(7.) The Farmer or Dross Farmer shall not manufacture or prepare or sell or offer for sale or authorize any person to sell or offer for sale any prepared opium or dross opium of a quality other than such as may be prescribed from time to time by Rule under . this Ordinance.

(8.) The Farmer shall permit the Superintendent of Imports and Exports and the Govern- ment Analyst and such other officers as may be from time to time.appointed gener- ally on that behalf by the Governor to enter and inspect the Farm Office and any place used by the Farmer for the business of manufacturing, preparing, storing, distri- buting, or selling opium, prepared opium, dross opium, dross, or halan, and every part of any such place and shall further permit any such officer from time to time to take for analysis samples of any opium prepared opium or halan or any materials used in the preparation thereof and found therein. (9.) The Farmer shall from time to time upon demand by the Superintendent of Imports and Exports or other officer as aforesaid produce for his inspection and permit him to inspect, examine, and take extracts from all books of account kept by the Farmer in connection with the business of the Farm or in connection with the Farm partnership and all Bank pass hooks agreements con- tracts and other documents whatsoever examination of which may be necessary or desirable to permit of a thorough investiga- tion of the manner in which the Farm business is conducted and of the profits or losses arising therefrom.

(10.) The Farmer shall keep such books and registers and make such returns regular or otherwise to the Superintendent of Imports and Exports or other officer as aforesaid as may be prescribed by Rule under this Ordin-

ance.

12. Section 39 of the Principal Ordinance is hereby amended as follows :-

(a.) In sub-section (1) by the substitution of the words "order the Farmer to insert an advertisement for one week in two English and in two Chinese Newspapers circulating in the Colony" in lieu of the words cause a notice to be affixed at the place where such opium or implement was found”. (.) In sub-section (2) by the substitution of the words "publication of such advertise- ment" for the words "affixing of such notice".

(c.) By the addition of the following sub-

section:---

(3.) Any such opium or implement shall be deemed to be not apparently in the possession of any person when no person makes within the said period of one week, and subsequently substantiates to the satisfaction of the Magistrate, a claim to the owner- ship thereof."

13. Section 42 of the Principal Ordinance is hereby

re-enactment amended
