SHROUD ISLAND LIGHT ESTABLISHED.
NOTICE is hereby given that Shroud Island Light was exhibited for the first time at sunset on the 1st November 1908.
The illuminating apparatus is Dioptric, Revolving, Group-flashing, of the Fourth Order, showing five white flashes in quick succession every 20 seconds, thus :--

and so on.
The appoximate power of the flash is 14,000 candles.
The Lighthouse stands on the western extremity of Shroud Island, and the Light, which is elevated 233 feet above the level of the sea, shows all round, and should be visible in clear weather at a distance of 21 nautical miles.
The tower is a steel structure, with a total height from base to lantern vane of 26 feet. The tower and dwellings are painted white.
